North Country Highway

Playing music from the farms, folks and ferries, North Country Highway is one of the area’s most popular Americana bands combining twangy guitar hooks, driving road rhythms and lush harmonies. They have been compared to the likes of the Head and The Heart, Drive By Truckers, Whiskeytown and even Fleetwood Mac. The band boasts a strength of five different singers who trade lead vocals, harmony and songwriting duties. Each individual player brings different influences of style and place to their writing and to the group’s song creation process. They promise “happy sad laugh cry country rock folk farm songs” and deliver with a fun stage persona and even an occasional singalong.

The married couple of singer/percussionist Elizabeth Chace and singer/lead guitar player Ryan Chace—who live and work on their own small farm—have played many shows as a folk duo in the past, and create songs that meld the rural experiences of family and farm steading with infectious pop hooks. Ryan has played with PNW musicians Dana Little and others. Singer/bass player Will Bright originally hails from the East Coast by way of Northern California, disparate influences that blend in his songs for a unique perspective of tranquility and grit. NoCo drummer/singer and New York native Kevin Baier was a member of well known Americana band The Hangdogs and remains influenced by the outlaw country scene. Singer/guitar/violin player Callum McSherry had his own multi-instrumental solo career for many years in the U.K. and his English and Irish folk music influences deepen the well from which NoCo Highway draws to write and compose all their material. Rounding out the lineup is violin/mandolin player Bill Palmer and keyboardist Nick Rubert, both veterans of the local Bellingham music scene. Palmer has played with many local groups in the bluegrass and classical styles. Rubert is a veteran of many Bellingham bands including Dana Little and Sanoma.
