Savage Blues Band

The Savage Blues Band is a popular Anacortes-based group whose rockin’ blues arrangements make the good times roll wherever they play. Its roots go back to the late 1960s, when future, pro musician and music educator, John Savage and several high school pals, formed a garage band. Fast-forward 40 years and they reunited, performing as Johnny & the Moondogs, and later, the Savage Blues Band. In 2013, John’s very talented son, Tom, joined the group, with professional chops on harp, guitar, and keys. Sadly, John passed away in 2019, but Tom took the reins and the band plays on.

Some of the artists covered by the Savage Blues Band include: Robert Johnson, Jimmy Reed, Elmore James, Wilson Pickett, Ray Charles, Charlie Musselwhite, Roy Buchanan, Junior Wells, Robert Cray, Booker T and the MG’s, Muddy Waters, Taj Mahal, ZZ Top, and, of course, the three Kings: Albert, B.B. & Freddie.
