Rosin up your bow, re-string your washtub and put on your best dress overalls, cause Friday 11/7 will feature the legendary Queen’s Bluegrass and Saturday hometown heroes, The Duntons, will perform. Get this one on your calendar!\nThe Dunton Sisters of Anacortes turn heads wherever they perform. According to one critic cited on their Web site, “Their singing is so smooth, it’s like driving down a freshly paved highway in a new Cadillac.” Another coined the term “smoothgrass” to describe their approach to music. Jen on guitar, Bev on mandolin, Jill on guitar and their mother Gae, on string bass, form the nucleus of the group. Sister Jackie on drums, and Jill’s husband Rick on guitars and keyboards provide additional instrumental support. The Dunton Sisters have family roots deep in traditional music. Their grandfather performed in a gospel quartet sponsored by Stamps-Baxter, famous publishers of shape-note hymns. When he moved to Washington State, he brought his music with him. The Dunton Sisters have performed at the world famous Station Inn in Nashville.
