SUMMARY:Open Streets
DESCRIPTION:Come party with us out in front of the restaurant on Commercial Ave, 12-4PM Sunday August 30th during “Open Streets”. The downtown will be a giant pedestrian area and our block will feature an all-ages area with a beer garden, a grill and live music provided by the incredible Savage Blues Band.\nThe Savage Blues Band is a popular Anacortes-based group whose rockin’ blues arrangements have made them regulars at virtually every local music venue. They’re a hardworking band that strives to inspire listeners and dancers.\nThe band’s roots go back to the late 1960s when MVHS high school pals John Savage, Kim Westenhaver and Ken Morrison formed a garage band. John Savage went on to be a standout professional musician and music educator, with expert proficiency on guitar, keyboards and bass.\nThe three friends reunited in 2005 as Johnny & the Moondogs, a classic blues band, which also included one of John’s guitar students, Jeff Stady. In 2013, John’s super-talented son, Tom Savage, joined the band, and expanded its blues power on guitar, keys, and harp.\nIn 2018, the band was renamed Savage Blues Band, and its popularity soared. Then a setback… At the end of 2019, the band lost its leader, father, and friend, John, to cancer. But, before he passed, he urged the group to continue showcasing the blues.\nAnd so, the Savage Blues Band carries on today, with multi-instrumental talent, Tom Savage, as its leader…delighting blues fans, and all who understand the importance of this genre. “They’re on a mission from John.”\nSavage Blues plays 1:30-4. Join us for all the fun at this year’s “Open Streets” event!\n \n
