LINDA NICOLE BLAIR

LINDA NICOLE BLAIR

Local Singer-Songwriter Linda Nicole Blair, from Port Orchard, WA will entertain in an acoustic evening with her original Americana/Folk style music.

If Chrissie Hynde had bolted Akron for Nashville instead of London, her unbuffered emotion and incisive observations might have taken shape something like those of Ms. Blair. The Washington-based singer/songwriter takes on romantic love’s frequent left turns and rude awakenings with straightforward lyrics and vocals to match. “Wild Night”, in particular, evokes the soulfulness of the afore-mentioned Ms. H. Other instantly attractive tracks include “All The While”, “Lucky Man” and “Far Away”.”

TRISH HATLEY

TRISH HATLEY

Vocalist Trish Hatley is one of the most beloved and enduring figures on the Northwest music scene. Known for her easy sense of swing, beautiful tone and innate sensitivity to the music, she effectively balances technical mastery with genuine accessibility, making her extremely popular among jazz fans everywhere she performs.

Hatley is also one of the hardest working musicians around. She performs and records with her own band, the Trish Hatley Quintet, as well as the vocal jazz trio Trish, Hans & Phil. She has appeared in several Pops concerts with the Everett Symphony and has also been a frequent guest vocalist with Jim Kerl’s Swing Session Big Band. Showtime for Trish's Rockfish performance is 6PM.

"When I think of Trish, the first word that comes to mind is dazzling. Her ability to captivate the audience while inspiring the musicians has made Trish one of our most requested soloists."
—Dr. Paul Cobb, Conductor, Everett Symphony

LYKINS-ADAMS
Wednesday, July 17, 2019

LYKINS-ADAMS

Lykins-Adams appear at the Rockfish tonight at 6! Mary Ellen Lykins is a savvy songwriter and a powerhouse vocalist. She brings a passionate voice to the story or the mood that's in each song. In her live performances, she offers unique moxie. It’s no wonder, she started with acting and the singing was mostly about musical theater. She moved to Washington from Utah in 2010 and made the PNW her home by sharing her singing in this vibrant music scene. Some have described her sound as the grit of Janis Joplin and passion of Etta James. A 2018 album “Let’s Play With Matches” of original music written by Mary Ellen and Craig Adams has been released.

Craig Adams enjoys diverse music styles, original writing, Blues, R&B and Rock mixed with anything smart and soulful. Craig started playing guitar at the age of 13. Shortly thereafter his music teacher invited him to play at venues locally as well as near the Canadian border, where thirsty Canadians packed the clubs if they wanted to drink on Sundays. He was hooked immediately, even though being under age meant he had to stay on the bandstand or outside during breaks!
His first published song "About Him” with the group The Menagerie in the 60’s was internationally distributed. Craig played the West Coast club circuit for years and opened for acts at the Paramount NW. The nuance, vocals and expressive lyrics of acoustic music continues to be a strong influence and desire. A 2018 album “Let’s Play With Matches” of original music written by Mary Ellen Lykins and Craig has been released.

JANETTE WEST
Wednesday, July 24, 2019

JANETTE WEST

Seattle-based vocalist Janette West's multi-layered career spans four decades and was nurtured in the fabric of Northwest music history. Her voice and style is a rich composite of dynamic jazz improvisation with the plush warmth of soulful R&B influences. JazzTimes magazine writes, “West is a first rate swinger, comparable in style and gusto to Ernestine Anderson, though the warmth of her ballads is more reminiscent of Natalie Cole.” The Examiner writes: “Janette West is a lovely and mercurial vocalist, a local favorite.”

When Janette sings, she shares a passion behind every note, every breath, and you get the feeling she has lived every lyric. She knows her way around the music and easily draws the audience into a robust ride. There is an obvious respect between her and the musicians with whom she generously shares the spotlight. Says Janette, “We have an amazing resource of world-class musicians in the Seattle area. I am in awe of the players I have been fortunate to work with and I feel privileged to play music with my husband (drummer Marty Tuttle) as well.”
