AMIGOS NOBLES

Amigos Nobles plays an intense, unique brand of instrumental, classical guitar-based Euro-Mediterranean, World Beat Fusion.
The band picked the name Amigos Nobles because the name means "Noble Friends" and not only represents the Mediterranean- style of their music, but also the friendship they have developed.

Amigos Nobles consists of Pacific Northwest musicians Jerry Wirkkala on guitars, Richard Ferguson on guitar & bass and Angelo Ortiz on percussion. Jerry Wirkkala is a masterful guitarist who's been fusing nuevo flamenco, blues and jazz and has been performing around the Seattle area for a number of years.

Richard Ferguson has been a rock player for many years. After attending a Gipsy Kings concert Richard became inspired, purchased a classical guitar and began learning the Euro-Nuevo Flamenco style songs Jerry was playing. With his rock roots always present, Richard's unique sound adds a special element to Amigos Nobles.

Angelo Ortiz is a well-known , gifted percussionist, recently named Best Instrumentalist by the Washington Blues Society and has appeared on the cover of "Big City Rhythm and Blues Magazine, a nationally published music trade magazine. Angelo has also played with notable greats Randy Oxford and Lee Oskar, and has been on many CDs and recordings around the Northwest.

GERTRUDE'S HEARSE

The sound of gravel crunching beneath the tires of the hearse as it rolls through the iron gates. In the distance a lone fiddle cries to the grey dawn. An alabaster stone marks the spot where the hearse pulls to a final stop. Hey, who called for the undertakers?

Gertrude's Hearse is a honky-rock-folk-grass™ band that was formed in La Conner, Washington in early 2005. They are known for versatility and their ability to perform with some, all, or even none of their members. They can be seen performing in ski towns, greasy forks, dark taverns, brewpubs and children's birthday parties all over the world.

Gertrude (grrr-trood) - An old-time name representing the style of music from which the band bases its sound. They are equally comfortable playing acoustically to themselves, as playing an arena to five hundred thousand.

Hearse (her-sss) - A car used to transport a coffin to a burial site. It is also a somewhat taboo word in the English language, not often used and retaining a sort of mystery. The name of the band is hard to get out of the heads of those who have said it aloud or read it in print.

Gertrude's Hearse may contain some, all, or none of the following members:

Raymond John: Guitar & Harmonica
Keith Stone: Saxaphone & Flute
Matt Clausen: Percussion
Kevin Kilmartin: Lead Guitar & Bass
Craig Olson: Lead Guitar & Bass

JANETTE WEST

Seattle-based vocalist Janette West's multi-layered career spans four decades and was nurtured in the fabric of Northwest music history. Her voice and style is a rich composite of dynamic jazz improvisation with the plush warmth of soulful R&B influences. JazzTimes magazine writes, “West is a first rate swinger, comparable in style and gusto to Ernestine Anderson, though the warmth of her ballads is more reminiscent of Natalie Cole.” The Examiner writes: “Janette West is a lovely and mercurial vocalist, a local favorite.”

When Janette sings, she shares a passion behind every note, every breath, and you get the feeling she has lived every lyric. She knows her way around the music and easily draws the audience into a robust ride. There is an obvious respect between her and the musicians with whom she generously shares the spotlight. Says Janette, “We have an amazing resource of world-class musicians in the Seattle area. I am in awe of the players I have been fortunate to work with and I feel privileged to play music with my husband (drummer Marty Tuttle) as well.”
